How Regular People Can Invest in an IPO — Even With $100
By Simone Carter · October 27, 2026
Having $100 to invest does not guarantee IPO shares. Your broker must have an allocation, you must qualify, and the final share price matters.
Start with the official filing
Read the prospectus on SEC EDGAR. The price and opening date may not be finalized when the initial filing appears.
Check your brokerage
Robinhood IPO Access and SoFi Invest may offer selected IPOs to qualifying customers. E*TRADE, Charles Schwab and Fidelity have different eligibility requirements. Fidelity may require $100,000 or $500,000 in qualifying household assets depending on the offering, or qualifying client status. No firm guarantees an allocation.
What if you miss the IPO?
Once shares begin public trading, you may be able to buy them through a regular brokerage account. Prices can rise or fall quickly. Understand order types and risk before buying.
